February Pop-Up Class: STORYBOOK THEATER

Storybook Theater...

... will be a 4-class series in February 2025. A group of 6-12 students aged 7-14 will bring a Fable story to life, and share it in a special community performance on Sunday, March 2. 

This DraMagic play will form part of the Lyons Chamber of Commerce' "First Sundays" event, which aims to draw families both locally and from out of town into Lyons to enjoy various pop-up offerings of artists, entertainment and fun activities, with the intention to support our local businesses, especially in the off-season. There will be face-painting and crafts for the kids, and snacks provided for the actors. 

The event runs from 12PM - 4PM, and we will share our 5-10minute Storybook Theater play four times - once an hour - as new audiences rotate in. 

This is a great opportunity for kids of all stages - whether they are totally new to acting or seasoned thespians - to be a part of creating something simple and beautiful and spreading their stage-wings in a low-pressure environment. They will learn and hone their basic acting skills, be a part of creating a group creating something poignant and inspired together, garner gems of wisdom from the fable story we will be working with, and get to play a character and help bring a story from a book to life on stage. 

Where

Rehearsals and performances will take place in the basement of Lyons Community Church, entrance at 350 W Main Street.

When 

Thursdays,   4:30 - 6:15PM. 

First class is Thursday February 6th; last class is Thursday February 27th. (4 classes total.)

Performance day is Sunday March 2 from 12 - 4PM (actors will be expected to arrive early. Snacks and possibly lunch will be provided). 

Fee + Registration

The program fee is $200/child. Sibling discount is 25%, so $175 for second and more children. 

A deposit of $100 can be made at the time of completing the registration form below to reserve your child's spot. 

The balance must be paid in by/on the first day of the program, Feb 6.
